The AC is cold when moving but warm in traffic
This particular pattern is one of the more informative things an air conditioning system can do, because it points at heat rejection rather than at the refrigerant circuit itself. Moving, the condenser at the front of the car gets airflow for free; stopped in traffic, it depends entirely on the cooling fans. A system that cools properly at 80 km/h and gives up at a standstill is usually failing to shed heat at the front — fans not coming on or running at the wrong speed, a condenser blocked with dust and flies, or a system carrying the wrong charge, which raises pressures until the fans cannot keep up. In this climate that last one matters: a marginal system passes in February and fails in July.
Can I keep driving it?
Safe to drive
Nothing here will strand you or is unsafe, so drive it. It is worth not leaving it, though, for a reason that is about money rather than risk: if the cause is a low charge then the system is leaking, and running a leaking system low on refrigerant also runs it low on the oil that refrigerant carries, which is how an air conditioning bill becomes a compressor.
How we find out which one it is
Leak testing, regas, compressor and evaporator work.
-
01
We measure before we guess
Vent temperature and both system pressures are checked with the engine at temperature. Together they narrow the fault to a short list before anything is dismantled.
-
02
We find the leak before we quote
If the system is low, it is leaking. We trace it and tell you which component it is — condenser, hose, o-ring, compressor seal or evaporator — and what that specific repair costs, so the job you approve is the one the car actually needs rather than another refill.

03
You approve the price, line by line
Parts and labour are quoted separately. You approve each line before we start. Nothing is fitted that you have not agreed to.

04
The car proves it, not us
The vent is checked again at the end, in the same conditions as the first check, before the car is handed back. Cold is something you feel at the vent on the way out, not something a workshop tells you it achieved.

- The automatic gearbox jerks when it changes gear A jerky shift is as often fluid, a solenoid or adapted software as it is a worn clutch pack — and the cost gap is enormous. Why codes and live pressures are read first.
- The battery goes flat if I leave the car for a few days Fine daily, flat after a weekend, is either a battery that no longer holds charge or a parasitic drain — and a new battery only fixes one of them. Both are measured in Sharjah.
- The temperature gauge climbs in traffic Normal on the move and climbing at a standstill means the car cannot shed heat without airflow — fans, radiator, thermostat, water pump or a leak. What to do if it reaches the red.
- It clicks when I turn the key but will not start One loud clunk points at the starter; rapid clicking points at current — battery, connection or charging. They feel identical, and the wrong guess buys a starter that does not fix it.
